D4RUNOFF Stakeholder Meeting & Open Day
Ever heard about the legend of Galileo Galilei dropping spheres from the Leaning Tower of Pisa? This story, whether fully accurate or not, highlights Pisa’s rich scientific heritage. Meanwhile, just a short trip away lies Pontedera—the birthplace of the iconic Vespa, first rolling off the Piaggio factory line in 1946 and forever changing scooter culture. These two Tuscan gems now set the stage for our two-day D4RUNOFF event.
We are delighted to announce a two-day experience that brings the D4RUNOFF project to life in Pisa and Pontedera! This event is an excellent chance to learn about D4RUNOFF’s cutting-edge research, innovative technologies, and forthcoming activities in the Pontedera pilot area.
A Hands-On Approach
In addition to a dedicated stakeholder engagement session, project partners (3OC, ACQUE SPA, ITG, and the University of Cantabria) will host an interactive, three-hour morning session with pupils and students. Together, we’ll dive into the topic of water pollution and test the social module of the AI-assisted D4RUNOFF platform.

What to Expect
The Open Day offers an engaging, hands-on experience designed especially for children and students. After a warm welcome and introduction to the D4RUNOFF project, participants will dive into parallel engagement sessions that make water management both fun and informative.
- Cards Game: Learn about the threats and challenges affecting water quality
- along with nature-based solutions (NBS) that can help.
- Gamification Challenge: Work in teams to tackle urban runoff issues through interactive problem-solving activities.
- Serious Game: Explore how NBS can support urban drainage and get a firsthand look at the social module of the D4RUNOFF AI platform in various urban scenarios.
Younger visitors can enjoy a drawing session and, at the end, share their feedback on the Cards Game.
We’re excited to see the younger generation actively involved and learning through fun, educational activities on our journey toward cleaner, more resilient cities.
We’ll be sharing the full agenda online shortly, so keep an eye on our channels for more details and updates.
Last but certainly not least, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to ACQUE SPA and the Museo Piaggio e la Vespa for their generous support in organising these events. Their collaboration has been invaluable in ensuring a great experience for all participants.
